Incisive Law LLC advises on Wilhelmsen and Airbus collaboration to introduce new drone technology for shore-to-ship delivery in Singapore port

03.07.2018

Wilhelmsen Ship Services has teamed up with Airbus to bring drone delivery to Singapore port’s Marina South Pier later in 2018. Wilhelmsen and Airbus will use Airbus’ Skyways unmanned air systems (UAS) to deliver spare parts, documents, water test kits and 3D printed consumables to vessels anchored near the port.

The collaboration between Wilhelmsen and Airbus is the first in the region which will enable the development and refining of shore-to-ship drone technology and shape the future of UAS in the maritime industry.

Incisive Law LLC represented Wilhelmsen in developing a bespoke contractual framework for the collaboration between Wilhelmsen and their UAS service provider, suitable to operate amidst the regulatory framework for the commercial use of drones or UAS in Singapore.

Edgar Chin (pictured), Joint Managing Director of Incisive Law LLC commented:

“We are delighted to have been able to provide expert legal advice to Wilhelmsen on this market leading Agency by Air project. Joining Wilhelmsen’s extensive ships agency expertise with Airbus’s expertise in unmanned air systems creates a great partnership that will undoubtedly bring significant advances to the Maritime industry.”
