Corin ‘s expertise encompasses trade, energy and shipping.

He handles both dry and wet litigation work providing opinions and/ or advising on disputes arising out of, amongst others, charter parties, contracts of affreightment, bills of lading, sale and purchase agreements, construction and conversion contracts, international sale of goods and casualties.

In the energy sector, he has advised offshore oil and gas clients in a range of Asian and Middle Eastern jurisdictions in various litigious matters ranging from contractual claims for non-payment of hire and rig underperformance to more physical issues arising from well damage, equipment failure, collisions and pollution, involving a variety of vessels including FSOs, FPSOs, drill ships, jack-ups and semi-subs. 

Corin is familiar with all methods of dispute resolution, including Court proceedings, arbitration and mediation.  He has extensive experience of arbitration in Singapore (SIAC, SCMA, UNCITRAL and ad hoc), London (LMAA, LCIA, ICC and ad hoc), Kuala Lumpur (KLRCA) and Hong Kong (HKIAC) as well as of Court proceedings in London, Singapore and the DIFC.

Corin has practiced in London, Greece, the UAE and Singapore, where he has been based since 2003.

Highlight matters:

  • Advising a contractor in connection with a dispute for a nine figure sum in relation to the construction of a semi-submersible floating production platform
  • Advised a French oil company in Court proceedings arising out of a catastrophic equipment failure on board a drill ship
  • Negotiated the sale of a missile defence system to the UAE Armed Forces on behalf of a major German naval systems manufacturer
  • Assisted the owner of two of the largest FSO conversions in contractual disputes with the yard
  • Advised a super tanker fleet operator on withdrawing from a long term COA for multiple carriages of fuel and crude oil
  • Advised in respect of the drafting and application of the Openspec contract on naptha trading
  • Investigated a copra fire on board a RoRo bulk/container/passenger vessel in the Philippines
  • Coordinated proposals with the UAE government for the long term enhancement and modernisation of the UAE Ship Registry
  • Drafted a standard port container services agreement for one of the largest container ship operators to facilitate proposed expansion in SE Asia
