Lawrence, a graduate of Queens' College Cambridge, co-founded his own solicitor practice in 1975. It expanded rapidly and led to Lawrence’s specialisation in contentious and non- contentious company/commercial matters. The matters dealt with were at a substantial level in terms of value and complexity. In 2014 Lawrence joined the rapidly expanding and dynamic practice of Gordon Dadds LLP.

In addition to his legal practice Lawrence has, over the years, also engaged in a number of business activities which have given him first- hand knowledge of the business world and an in depth understanding of the commercial context in which contentious and non-contentious legal issues arise and are best addressed.

Lawrence has particular expertise in complex national and multi-jurisdictional matters concerning the formation and implementation of contracts, and, as required, dispute resolution and commercial litigation.  He is known for his quick grasp of material issues, his approach of endeavouring to resolve issues through thoughtful negotiation rather than litigation and, if negotiation fails, for vigorously advancing or defending his client's position to the maximum possible effect.

Commercially, Lawrence has acted for major banks, corporations and high net worth individuals nationally and in various parts of the world, including in particular in Europe, the Middle East, South-East Asia and Africa.

Contentiously, over the last 20 years Lawrence has achieved notable success in some of the largest cases both in England and Wales and also abroad. The values of such cases have ranged from the hundreds of millions of pounds to more modest sums but Lawrence gives all his cases (whatever their size and value) the same high level of service and individual attention.

Lawrence is known for ascertaining the needs of his clients and for working closely with his clients at a personal level to help them achieve the maximum possible of their objectives with a minimum of cost and delay.
