Paul advises on a variety of wet and dry shipping litigation and is a member of Ince & Co’s International Emergency Response Team, as well as an Investigator for the Firm’s Yacht Group. He advises ship owners and P&I Clubs on charterparty and bill of lading disputes, including claims arising from hire, laytime, demurrage, speed and performance and cargo recovery and defence. Paul also has experience of shipbuilding, sale and purchase contract and general commercial disputes, as well as on non-contentious sanctions matters.

Paul conducts onsite casualty investigations in groundings and collisions, taking crew statements and drafting causation and salvage investigation reports. He also represents owners in their communications with salvors, class, pollution teams, surveyors and local repair yards. He advises on liability and quantum disputes arising from collisions, groundings, salvage remuneration and indemnity and general average claims. 

Paul’s experience extends to superyacht casualties and assisting owners with Class and salvage related issues arising out of them. Paul has experience in interviewing yacht crews, and has represented yacht owners at surveys and on delivery to buyers. Paul has also assisted private yacht owners in claims against their insurers, and has worked with maritime security firms in the private yachting sector.

He has participated in LMAA arbitrations and cases before the High Court in London and has worked on cross-border litigation and enforcement proceedings in jurisdictions such as Bangladesh, China, India, Mauritius, Panama, Singapore and the United States.
