Anti-bribery and corruption

Prosecutions for corruption and bribery are increasing. Do you know what constitutes a bribe? Do you understand all the new legal rules and government crackdowns?

The net is much wider now. Seemingly innocent areas - entertaining your clients, procuring goods and the general operation of your business - are all areas which could be under scrutiny. It is more important than ever that your business complies with the relevant laws and current best practice.

The realities can be very serious.  As global anti-corruption efforts have increased in recent years, so too have the consequences of getting it wrong. Under the UK’s Bribery Act 2010 criminal charges could be brought against you if one of your employees gives a bribe, whether you know about it or not.

The shipping industry faces its own special corruption risks. With our understanding of the industry, we are ideally placed to advise you on how to minimise and avoid risks.

Whether you are a shipowner or an insurer, we can help you with your anti-corruption compliance programmes. We provide you with practical training for your staff, and legal advice on individual examples of suspected or known corruption.

For more information and to discuss your requirements contact Fionna Gavin or Brian Boahene.
